Ready to Roll!

After looking at dozens of youtube videos on how to make baskets by weaving paper, I dragged out my stack of papers and started rolling!

I did start a project but found the roll very stiff and hard to work with on my first try at weaving with paper. I will try to roll some looser ones to practice weaving.

As soon as I saw this I found some news paper and rolled all night.

New look for my craft pictures

Ok I have been a little slack on posting as I go with my craft and findings. I need to make myself post each day even if I am not finished. My crafting is like my house cleaning. I will start on one thing, look for a tool, think of something else I can do with said tool and so on and so forth. It may be a little while until my projects are finish.

Also I wanted a neater look to my pictures that show my progress. I am liking this look at the moment. What do you think? I was trying to make one like you see the long ones on pinterest but the program I am using will not do what I tell it to. For now I will use this style.

Stay Crafty :)

DIY transfer paper

I was asked to make up some inspirational posters of my wife to put up at work for the clients and I jumped at the opportunity. Being all excited to finally have my crafting bug back I will agree to anything. One little problem, the little projects that I have managed over the past few years has been sewing and beading. I haven't tried to draw or print in many years and seeing as I don't want to spend a couple months practicing (I am Virgo, everything has to be perfect)

My organisation station

I have just been working on my craft room. Here is a organisation station that I made up from a cool box. When I have my crafts supplies topped up I think I will paper mache it. I got a little carried away with the purple duck tape. oops

Tools and Templates for Paper Beads

If you haven't tried to make paper beads before, you can start off by just using a toothpick or small knitting needle to wrap the paper around. Below are some pictures of tools you can purchase if you decide to make them on a larger scale. There is also a video on how to make using a toothpick a little easier also.

Non-Heated DIY Mod Podge

How to Make DIY Mod-Podge Decoupage

Mod-Podge decoupage. Crazy useful in numberless home projects and crafts, but it can cost you a pretty penny! I figured out an awesome plan for my plain, boring black coffee table that required a huge amount of mod-podge and I was not prepared to pay for it. Due to my general cheapness, of course. My table will be amazing (pictures to follow), but for now, here is DIY mod-podge. (I cannot lie- once you know how easy it is to make, you will NEVER buy it. Again. Ever.)

Materials*multi-purpose white glue*water(the end!)

1. Heat your glue in the microwave until warm and mix it together with boiling water. (ex. two bottles of glue to one bottles worth of water) Stir together until it is an even consistency and pour it into any sealable container (plastic containers, freezer-jam jar, glass jar, etc.). (Extra note: It can be difficult to get the glue out of the bottle, so one thing that can help is to pour half of the glue into your mixing bowl and then add some of your boiling water into the half-full bottle, put the lid back on it, shake it vigorously, and then pour the contents out.)
2. The end! Did I tell it was easy? Store it at room temperature and keep a foam paintbrush next to the jar and you'll be ready to apply it to all of your many craft projects. Hooray!

I cant wait to use this when I make some paper beads!

Chalk boards and Chalk

Well it didn't take too long for the butterflies of excitement filled me as I started to look on Youtube and Pintrest for some inspiration.

Firstly I need to redo my craft room. I had it semi set up but wasn't crafting and due to unable to find employment I moved my desk to the lounge room and started to clear my craft room. We thought of renting it out to a student. But I like my space and to be honest I am not the best company on my bad pain days which seem to be a lot lately.

Anyway, I have always loved chalk boards and I remember mum painting a whole wall in our cuby house and we spent hours in there just for the chalkboard.

I would love to do a large chalk board for some of my ideas as that is easier to find than the scraps of paper I tend to write them on. If this wasn't a rental I would paint a whole wall in it.

Crochet Beanies

Crochet Beanies (hats)

I crocheted these hats and a few more that I gave to family and friends a couple years ago. The yarn wasn't the best quality and was hard on my fingers while making them but I still enjoyed making them and seeing people wear them.

I hope once I get some funds I can get some better quality yarn and make some nicer ones.

Wood and Wire Necklace

Wood and Wire Necklace

I made this a couple weeks ago, but when my wife tried it on it didn't sit too well. It is a stiff wire with connectors and I brought them like that. I need to remove a few of the beads as it sits better with only about 2 or 3 inches worth of beads. Also the wood beads may be too light to use this way.

A new start

Searching for my crafty self again, I have decided to create this blog to collect ideas and share me creations. My interest at this point in time is reusing everyday items and re purposing some of my old attempts.

My two main crafts for now are making bags and beading jewelry.

It may take me a little while to put some of my items up due to my computer being reset, so I need to search the net for my online postings on facebook and other old failed attempts at blogs.

My wonderful wife helped me come up with the name Bobbin to the Bead. We both love music so it ties that love in with my craftiness.

Well time to work on the design of the blog for a while. I do apologize that it may look different if you check back over the next couple of weeks.

Until next we meet, stay crafty.
